Termites in a inground bait station

Exterra pot with active termites jpeg
In ground bait station – when the termites find the termite bait stations – the aim is to successfully “aggregate” as many termites as possible and then to feed them a termite bait. Termite Bait is added to the termite bait station minimising disturbance of the termites. If the termites are shaken up they may abandon the location entirely. Termites feed on the termite bait and take it back to the central colony nest where it is spread to other termites, even the Queen termite as part of their mutual grooming and feeding habit.

Usually this species of termite is found attacking fences, poles and other timber structures subject to wood decay from weathering or from being in contact with the soil. Nests are usually basket ball size mounds in the ground or on posts and trees. Small colonies attached to stumps, logs on the ground, rotting wood or even beside mounds of other termites
